Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at DSgutterworks@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

A: Gutters should be cleaned at least twice a year—typically in the spring and fall. If your home is surrounded by many trees or prone to heavy storms, you may need to clean them more frequently to prevent clogs, overflow, and water damage.

A: Yes, we provide professional gutter repair for issues such as leaks, sagging, loose sections, and damaged downspouts.

A: Yes. We offer the GutterTopper family of gutter covers, designed to keep out leaves, pine needles, and debris while still allowing water to flow freely. We’ll inspect your site conditions and roof design and recommend the gutter cover system that best addresses your home’s needs.

Not quite. If anyone tells you a gutter protection product is completely maintenance-free, they are not being truthful. Of all the products out there, none are truly maintenance-free. Some systems require less maintenance than others, but generally, the minimum recommended care is to clean the product at least twice a year.

A: The cost depends on several factors, including:

  • Number of stories of your home
  • Roof pitch
  • Any fascia repair or replacement needed
  • Size and condition of your gutters
  • Number of corners (inside and outside)
  • Overall length of your gutters

Each home is unique, and we’ll provide a custom estimate after inspecting your property.

A: Yes, we offer free estimates for all gutter installations, repairs, and cover systems. Contact us to schedule an appointment.

A: We install both 5-inch standard and 6-inch oversized seamless gutters, depending on your home’s design and water drainage needs. We also install 2×3 and 3×4 downspouts for proper water flow.

6-inch K-style gutters provide approximately 40–50% more water-carrying capacity than 5-inch gutters and are typically installed with larger 3" × 4" downspouts for improved drainage. They are often recommended for larger homes, steep roofs, long roof runs, or areas where heavy rainfall can overwhelm a standard gutter system.

However, 6-inch gutters aren't necessary for every home. Many homes are well-served by a properly installed 5-inch system.

At Don Soechting GutterWorks, we don't automatically recommend the larger gutter. We evaluate your home's roof design, drainage requirements, and budget, then recommend the most practical and cost-effective solution for your specific situation.
